At some point (possibly Xinzhou), Martin’s hat was damaged, especially at the back. It is currently being held together by:
Douglas tried to save his marriage to Helena by learning how to dance, because, when they first met, that was her favourite thing to do to relieve stress.

Arthur’s dad Gordon, whilst not actually abusive, never told Arthur what a brilliant son he is, and he still tries really hard to get that approval.
So I was listening to ‘Limerick’ again today, and Martin sounded so excited when Douglas suggested they keep the flight deck dark ‘like a fighter plane.’ Then ‘Vaduz’ came up in my shuffle and when they got around to Martin’s medals, it hit me:
Martin joined the Air Cadets because he originally wanted to fly fighters. He aced all the technical knowledge, but when he did the simulator, he passed out because some of the maneuvers made him dizzy. This was also how he learned about his inner ear condition. But he was so determined to fly planes that he decided to get his PPL & CPL and still become a pilot, so he could do the job he loves. But the memory of being told he could never be a fighter pilot still lingers, though he never admits it.
A friend of arthur’s is training to be a stewardess, She sometimes fills in on gerti to practice, no passengers just to get a feel. Suprisingly, she has never been on a plane before and gets frightened (Cabin pressure-style humor) and Martin comforts her. They end up staying in the same hotel room, since this is a long flight. THings get frisky and when Douglas and Carolyn are sitting in the room next to them, just chatting, Carolyn having a night cap, Dougas apple juice, they hear the new stewardess and Martin having sex. The laugh uncontrolably and tease him the next day. Neither She or Martin care <3
In the last episode, Zurich, the crew is going to be flying Herc and Martin out to Zurich to take the jobs, but once they get there, Caroline will ask Herc not to take the job and Douglas is going to (not so subtly) half his pay for Martin to stay on.

In times of panic, Martin looks on GERTI as a daughter.
So I have this headcanon that when Martin starts singing he’s really good at it and forgets about his shyness and he also plays the guitar which has a special place on Gertie but he never takes it out to play on it and probably everybody forgot about it already.
